All those late nights of hard work finally paid off. From that late afternoon at Han’s Mongolian Restaurant back in January 2011, where Pete Armendariz (President/Co-founder) and I met for lunch, and the idea was conceived to create an organization that catered to a different breed of Disc Jockeys. You may ask yourself, “What breed is that?” Now you would think that our name would give it away; I mean you can’t miss it; it’s the second word in our name. That’s right…Hispanic…wrong! Okay now I know I lost you.

Let me explain, We are serious about conquering the Hispanic Market by educating and training as many Hispanic DJ’s as we possibly can for the next 20 years. But more then that, we are very committed to motivating and mentoring those beginners that just found their calling to DJ or the Skilled Club DJ that only has the school of hard Knox as their source for business knowledge.

Other Disc Jockey Associations claim that they want to educate and mentor, but they fall short due to such rigorous qualifications that quickly discourages beginners. Additionally, they limit their membership to just Mobile DJ’s and close their doors to the hard working Club DJs. Our new breed of Disc Jockeys are probably going to be the industry underdogs and DJs rejected from other associations; those DJ’s that starve for someone to help them.

Pete and I shared our vision with Francisco Perez and John DeLeon, and they got it immediately. So now we have the vision but “where do we go from here?” Thats when we freak out and say to ourselves, “how are we going to do it?” “How much is it going to cost?” …NOT! It was like, “okay…this is what we’re going to do and let’s do it! And we did it! Although we are just barely at the starting line, we believe that we’ve accomplished something great.

The past five months have been a very successful beginning.  We are very proud to say that although we know we have a long road ahead of us, our hard work has paid off. We met for our first General Membership Meeting on March 6th, and although we didn’t have to break down walls or can say that “we had standing room only.”  We can definitely say that we did impress and convince our 17 attendees.

Now after our 5th meeting, we were excited that we’ve had a total of 6 DJ’s become members and have 4 others that have committed to join at our meeting next month. We believe that if we keep that momentum, we could have as many as 30 members or more by the end of this year.

You might think you want a good DJ, but what you really want is a good party! In other words, it’s the outcome that you’re looking for. When all is said and done, isn’t it true that what you really want is for your friends and family to have a wonderful time?

So, what is a party? The definition is: a social gathering where there’s usually food, drink, and entertainment. Like a recurring theme throughout this blog, it’s been stated entertainment is “the action of being provided with amusement or enjoyment.” A fun wedding reception is actually a series of events that all happen in sequence, presented in a manner that will keep your guests entertained the whole time. “That, by nature, makes your reception an entertainment driven event.” In this light, your wedding reception is a party . . . a very special party! Looking at your celebration from this point of view, you’ll want to present your guests with the kind of fun that makes your special day an outstanding party, featuring the kind of entertainment that reflects your personal style.

What do brides want out of their wedding reception entertainment? We didn’t just take it upon ourselves to come up with the answer. We asked thousands of brides. Here’s a snapshot of what they had to say:

“No cheese!”

“Keep the party going!”

“Someone who plays what I want to hear, and doesn’t play the songs I can’t stand.”

“A DJ who doesn’t bring any weird props. I want it to be fun, but still formal.”

“I want a DJ who doesn’t talk all night.”

“Someone who coordinates the night, so everything goes smoothly.
I just don’t want to have to worry about it.”

“I want my guests to say it was the best wedding they’ve ever been to!”

With this information in hand, we came up with the perfect entertainment solution for our brides. We give our DJs some of the most sophisticated wedding and service training available, and have them commit to consistent training that keeps them on top of their game. After they pass our initial training and inspection, we join together regularly for focus sessions on topics such as, “Fairy Tale Customer Service”, “Understanding what the Bride and Groom Want,” “How to Effectively Coordinate the Reception” and “How to Work Well with Other Vendors.”

As a result, our DJs are doing what brides have asked us to do. Sounds like a great business concept, right? Only take someone’s money if you give them what they’ve asked for. Don’t do the things that drive them nuts.

A Brides DJ. Finally, formal & fun tie the Knot!
